BY THE PATHS OF CENTRAL TIEN-SHAN

The itinerary goes between the southern shore of the Issyk Kul lake and the northern side of the Terski Alatau mountain range. It belongs to the most beautiful and abundant corners of Central Asia. The trek goes in the immediate nearness of the highest part of the range with its immense and severe peaks: Karakol (5218m), Djhety-Oguz (5181m), Djhigit (5072m) and Aksu (5020m). Travelers will immerse themselves into the freshness of fragrant fir forests and experience the delight and the healing effects of hot mineral springs (Djhialisu, Altin-Arashan). During day trips to the foot of great summits, we will get to know the harsh beauty of nature.
The best time for trekking is from July to September.

Day 1 Arrival in Bishkek.
Day 2 Transfer Bishkek - Pokrovka (350 km;7 h). Transfer by truck to the valley of Chon-Kyzylsu river (17 km; 1 h). Further walking through evergreen forests for acclimatization (4 km; l,5 h). Camp (2450 m).
Day 3 Passage to Archa-Tor pass. (10 km; 3h; +850 m). Ascent along Chon-Kyzylsu river before Archa-Tor pass. We go on a good path through forests gradually leading to alpine meadows. From our camp place we can enjoy memorable scenery of the surrounded ranges. Camp (3500 m).
Day 4 Walk over Archa-Tor pass (8 km; 4h; +300 m; -1150 m). Narrow paths go to the beginning of the pass. Ascent on gradual, soft but stable, sandy scree. From the top point of the pass (3800 m) an impressive mountainous view opens up and you pay your price for a difficult ascent. Descend on gentle scree paths leading to the crest of old moraine from where we go down into alpine meadows, further around glacier with a small lake in the middle and then to the evergreen forest in the Djhety-Oguz river valley. Camp (2640 m.)
Day 5 Daily round trip (8 km; 4 h). Sightseeing circuit tour up to the Djhety-Oguz ice wall with wonderful panoramas of snow and ice.
Day 6 Descent along Djhety-Oguz river. Ascent upstream the Telety river (8 km; 4h; -200 m; +400 m). En route we enjoy picturesque views of the Djhety-Oguz and the North Telety river valleys . Camp (2600m).
Day 7 Cross over the Telety pass (9 km; 5h; +950 m; -1050 m). We walk across the Telety pass (3650 m) and further down to the Karakol river. The whole route is on good paths. Camp (2600 m).
Day 8 Rest day. Sightseeing tour up to the foot of the Karakol Peak (5218 m) (7 km; 4h).
Day 9 Cross over the Panoramic pass (8 km; 5h; +900 m; -750m). Ascend from Karakol river up to the pass (3500 m) and further walk down to Alakul lake. Camp (3200 m).
Day 10 Rest day.
Day 11 Cross the Alakul pass (12 km; 6h; +550 m; -1150 m). Ascend to the saddle of the pass (3600 m) on well-trodden path. Descend to the Arashan river follows firstly on scree, and then leads to alpine zone of the main gorge, where you can have a rest near hot springs. Camp (2450 m).
Day 12 Descent to the hot springs (8 km; 4h). Descend along the Arashan river to the Altin-Arashan hot springs.Swimming. Farewell dinner. Tea around a traditional camp fire. Camp (2450 m).
Day 13 Transfer to Bishkek (345 km; 7h).
Day 14 Departure from Bishkek.
